The National Cyber Awards

In 2019, the National Cyber Awards® chose to support Cyber Security Challenge UK as a not-for-profit organisation, adding us to an impressive line-up of sponsors and supporters. The awards recognise innovation in the cyber security industry and those who protect us from cyber crime. We were thrilled to support the awards, and even more thrilled to attend the incredible black tie gala dinner in Cheltenham, home to GCHQ, for the announcement of this year’s winners on 10 April 2019.

Cyber security in school

As part of their ongoing support, the National Cyber Awards® presented us with a cheque for £500, which will help subsidise the delivery of our cyber programmes in schools in socio-economically deprived areas across the UK.

The aim of the games, careers fairs and challenges we organise both in schools and in partnership with other organisations is to demonstrate the exciting opportunities that come from choosing STEM subjects and a career in cyber, and to open up the industry to young people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Launched in 2019, Cyber Challenge in a Box is a half day immersive learning experience for KS2 and KS3 students that involves piecing together clues to solve a cyber security mission. As well as inspiring students to pick technical GCSE subjects by demonstrating exciting, practical real-world applicants, the challenge helps students understand the ethical and moral issues surrounding cyber and hacking.

National Cyber Awards 2020

The awards are one of the highlights in our calendar, and we’re already looking forward to 2020! Preparation is underway, and we’re excited to be involved in what promises to be an even bigger, better and brighter celebration of innovation in the industry. The 2020 Awards will be hosted by BAE Systems, in conjunction with the Mayor of Manchester and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC). And the most exciting news of all? Our very own Chairman, Dr Robert (Bob) Nowill, will be judging the entries.
